Dove Uses Social Video To Back Bill Regulating Toxic Social Media

Henry-Alex Rubin’s new video for Dove titled “The Cost of Beauty” chronicles the story of a girl from childhood through teen years as she struggles through a life-threatening eating disorder spurred on by social media influencers, whose video clips appear as well. A haunting cover of Joe Cocker’s 1974 song “You Are So Beautiful” is sung by British artist Rebecca Lucy Taylor, who performs under the name Self Esteem. That version of the song plays in the background until the girl’s mom takes over as the video progresses. (“You Are So Beautiful” was written by Bryce Fisher and Billy Preston.)
